Brooks romantic comedy. The screenplay would have been worked better on the stage since the scenes fit the format of separate acts in a play.
The movie is void of any effervescence and doesn't have the forward momentum that holds your interest. Witherspoon is real who used to seemingly light up the room with her mere presence, but is woefully miscast as a female jock. Rudd tries to inject some humor but plays his nice guy act and the material overall isn't funny.
Witherspoon and Rudd deserve to be together in a better movie. Wilson just wants to have fun and could play this role in his sleep. Nicholson acts like he is making a guest appearance on a talk show.
Overall, the dialogue of the film and overall essence somewhat reminds of a soap opera television show or something of a plot wise you would find on Friends. Reese's character just isn't too likable as you start thinking more of the film.
The ending is quite predictable and overall How Do You Know just isn't all that romantic of comedic. Not to mention, this film was a major box office flop with a far too high budget that doesn't add up.
